Graffiti
September 1, 2009 I used a buddy-pass (courtesy of my friend Meau, who works for Delta) to fly from NYC to Brussels.
An easy ride on public transit got me to Weilsmann Cueppens Straadt where I had a fine time reconnecting with old friends; singing in the kitchen -sounding like cats in heat. Spent a day or 2 wandering around Brussels with camera - having fun, getting used to being in a French-speaking city.
An apartment exchange via Craigslist let me stay in Ghent -where I got to hang out with Nik and Nancy Phelps - fun folks from San Francisco who love living in Belgium. Walked and biked Ghent: great canals and medieval buildings + a castle!
Train to Amsterdam to stay in second apartment (Richard and Eva, the young couple who exchanged with me had 2 places - one in Ghent an one in Amsterdam). Found their cozy attic apartment after inital panic at funky directions. Fiery Brazilian woman Maria and her lovely daughter Thaise rescued me on the street. Thaise googled the street and we figured out which building it was from photos they had sent previously. It was the hottest day of the year in Amsterdam - bleagh - Glad I brought wheely-dealy to schlep luggage- had i been carrying all that weight on my shoulders (3 pairs walking shoes) I would've been hurtin'.
Apartment in Amsterdam was close to Troppen Museum, trams, Oosterpark, bike paths and canal. In 15 minutes I could get anywhere on old coaster bike that was mine for 3 weeks. On last day found construction site with a big fence totally covered in Graffiti - fabulous!
Heard Who let the Dogs Out (on Entourage episode recently) + immediately wanted to use for graffiti video :: :: :: :: ::
hope you like the results ! It was fun meandering, shooting and photoshopping !
